Summary

  1. The intelligence sharing debate - explainedpublished at 19:33 BST

As we reported earlier, President Zelensky said in the press conference that he is "thankful" to the US as intelligence on Russian strikes "works now".

Zelensky's adviser Serhii Beskrestnov last week told the BBC that lives had been lost in Ukraine because Kyiv was at the time not receiving reliable US warnings of incoming Russian attacks.

White House officials have said there were no changes to intelligence sharing operations between the two countries.

Earlier today, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio rejected as "scandalous" accusations that Ukrainians were dying because the US was withholding intelligence.

Zelensky told reporters this evening that the early warning systems are important to the Ukrainian people and children as it shows when attacks are incoming.

Zelensky also said restrictions on Ukraine's use of the Starlink internet network were ongoing. He earlier said speed limits had been imposed on Starlink terminals, and that Kyiv had not been told about this in advance.

Internet service Starlink allows Ukraine to effectively guide drones to Russian targets and to protect Ukrainian skies.

A question is asked about why special envoy Steve Witkoff is not present, to which Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre says the news conference is for political leaders.

He then says "Europe needs to be at the table" for the peace process between Russia and Ukraine.

"To achieve a lasting and fair peace, we need an equation of US, Ukraine, Russia and Europe," he says.

Støre adds that he and Finnish President Alexander Stubb do not speak on behalf of Europe and they will be meeting with European colleagues, saying that the continent will "live with the consequences" of the conflict.

Stubb says he and Støre "work very much in the back office" as Europeans and supporters of Ukraine.

"It's very important that the American negotiators and President Trump stay engaged," the Finnish president adds.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb is up next. He says those present at the talks made "genuine progress" on two levels: in the "big picture" and the "short-term".

He says they "found some elements of peace" in the big picture, and those ideas will be taken to St Petersburg tomorrow, as well as key elements on security and the economy.

In the short-term, he says they discussed air defence, energy installations and partial ceasefires, adding that he feels the leaders are "on the same page".

"In my experience, peace requires patience. But unfortunately war does not wait. People are dying every and each day... I think today was a step in the right direction," he adds.

Now the leaders are moving on to questions from reporters.

  8. Let's see what Putin has to say - Zelenskypublished at 18:19 BST

Zelensky continues by saying Ukraine "immediately" supported the US proposal for an energy ceasefire, but Russia "responded by continuing its attacks".

He says he wants US representatives to take ideas discussed for a potential peaceful solution to the Russians.

The Ukrainian president says one of the ideas is to move towards a potential trilateral meeting between leaders.

He adds that Witkoff is going to Russia tomorrow: "Let's see what Putin has to say."

Zelensky finishes his remarks by thanking everyone who stands with Ukraine and peace.

Zelensky confirms he had a "good conversation" with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio - and says he appreciated his willingness to help and find solutions to the issues faced by Ukraine.

It has been turbulent at times between the US and Ukrainian presidents, however relations have been especially strained in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, Trump proclaimed "it's time for Ukraine to get a new president", responding to criticism from Zelensky over the US diesel deal with Russia.

Trump announced that Vladimir Putin had agreed to release 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately "to the American and global marketplace" - which was branded by Zelensky as a "gift" to the Russian president.

Speaking to reporters at the time, the US president said Zelensky "wants to make problems for the world" by attacking Russian refineries, adding that he "better damn well stop".

The row deepened last week when Trump waived numerous sanctions on Russia, which Zelensky said would have "helped enormously", days before they were due to take effect

Since then, Ukraine's president declared it was nice to be among "real leaders" while addressing an EU summit, after Trump said Zelensky was "more difficult to deal with" than Putin.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, have met in Oslo today during what has been described as "a critical time for Ukraine" by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

Støre said Zelensky requested Norway and Finland to organise talks between European allies and the US after relations between Kyiv and Washington began to sour in recent weeks.

Trump said earlier this month it's time for Ukraine to get a new president following Zelensky's criticism of a US diesel deal with Russia.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio today rejected as "scandalous" accusations that Ukrainians were dying because the US was withholding intelligence from Kyiv.

Støre said the aim of the Oslo talks was to steer relations towards "a more constructive path", while Zelensky said earlier he had a "constructive discussion" with Rubio about the need for US early warnings, missile interceptors and SpaceX's Starlink network.

We're expecting to hear from President Zelensky, PM Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb later, so stick with us as we bring you the key updates.
