Jason Mohammad takes your calls on parking fines, smart glasses and the secret to a long life
Have you been caught out by a private car park fine? Should smart glasses be allowed in public spaces? And what's the secret to a long life?
Drivers are to be given new rights to challenge fines issued by private car park operators under UK government plans. Motorists will get protected time in car parks before a fine is issued, and penalties will be cancelled on appeal if there were problems beyond a driver's control. The prime minister, Andy Burnham, announced the changes after drivers repeatedly raised concerns that penalties issued by private providers were too harsh and left motorists unfairly punished. Have you been caught out by a private car park fine?
A fresh debate has been sparked on the issue of smart glasses after Reform MS, Jason O’Connell, said he was using the glasses with an in-built autocue feature to help him make speeches in the Welsh Parliament. Smart glasses are wearable computer-enhanced frames that look like normal eyewear but includes features such as built-in speakers, microphones, cameras, or transparent displays. The politician said the technology had helped boost his confidence when speaking in the Senedd and denied it risked misleading people into thinking he was speaking without notes – but Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Jane Dodds has called for the glasses to be banned from use in the Senedd, while a parliament spokesperson said a review was under way. We ask, should smart glasses be allowed in public spaces?
And finally, Wales’ ‘oldest man’, 107-year-old World War Two veteran Owen Filer, has revealed that one of the secrets to his longevity has been a regular visit to the chippy! His order? "Fish and chips, a full meal, a scoop full of chips and a fish." But what do you think the secret is to a long life?
