“If a Ballymena man is starving he’s cold!”

Sean wonders why we say, 'shiver me timbers!'.

“I heard a woman say she was so far through she didn’t know what she was doing,” says The Spudman.

“That’s a great expression,” Sean says. “We all know where that poor woman’s coming from. We always used to say, ‘far shook’ or ‘far shuck’. But where do we get the saying, ‘Shiver me timbers?’”

“We would say well shook!” says The Spudman. ”Not sure about ‘shiver me timbers’ but if a Strabane man is starving he is hungry, and if a Ballymena man is starving he is cold.”

With music from The Ronettes, The Crystals, Tom Jones, and more.
