The 300mph motorsport where women keep winning

Top Fuel drag racing is the world’s fastest sport. It’s also one of the few sports where men and women compete against each other. Join Susanne Callin as she bids to retain her European title.

Top Fuel drag racing is the world’s fastest sport where drivers hurl themselves down racetracks in nitromethane-fuelled cars. It makes Formula One look slow. The highest speed ever hit in F1 is 231mph while Top Fuel drivers routinely reach 300mph. There are very few sports where men and women compete against each other on a level playing field. Most motorsports are heavily male-dominated - no woman has competed in F1 for decades - but drag racing is an exception. And women don’t just compete - in Europe at least - they are now dominating the sport.
