Playing FBI agent Dale Cooper in the 1990s tv series Twin Peaks made a cult star of actor Kyle MacLachlan. He discusses his memoir Fictional Selves, which reflects on this, and his other roles for auteur David Lynch.

Bram Stoker’s 1897 Gothic classic Dracula may have shaped visions of vampires for generations, but the blood-sucking creature of the night has fascinated writers long before he first left Transylvania.
