It’s time for the musicians to impress the judges like never before as the competition reaches the semi-final stage. Presented by Petroc Trelawny.

It’s a make-or-break moment for the musicians as the competition reaches its penultimate stage - the semi-final. With only three places available in the final, the pressure mounts for the five remaining musicians. They must impress the judges like never before.

Returning to the judging panel are world-renowned pianist and recording artist Joanna MacGregor and conductor and broadcaster Ben Gernon. Joining them is superstar violinist Jennifer Pike, who shot to fame in 2002 when she won the title BBC Young Musician aged just 12. She trades the international stage for a seat on the jury for the evening.

Who will the judges decide has the potential to perform a full concerto in the final and take a step closer to claiming a place in the BBC Young Musician hall of fame? Petroc Trelawny presents highlights from the semi-final filmed at Swansea University’s Bay Campus.
