Main content

The early days of the biker scene in the US and the UK, when speed was the thrill, and bikes bring a sense of belonging.

Biker gangs like the Hell's Angels first established themselves in the USA, but have since spread around the world, becoming global movements.

Members see themselves as outcasts from society, and those who belong to these so-called "one per center" motorcycle clubs have their own strict rules and rituals. Some members are attracted by a love of bikes, and the sense of brotherhood being in a motorcycle gang brings. But police say some "one per center" gangs are criminal enterprises, responsible for mayhem and even murder.

For Gangster Presents, Angels and Outlaws, Livvy Haydock explores the world of biker gangs.
