Battling pennywort on the River Soar
A group of nearly a hundred volunteers are helping to clear the River Soar after an invasion of 'pennywort'.
The green carpet of weed can suffocate native plants and fish and can grow as fast as twenty centimetres a day in peak season, clogging up the waterways.
Now however, regular weeding work parties are starting to turn the tide. Nick Pryke is one of the volunteers.
