Architect Alison Brooks: ‘King’s Cross is unmatched architecturally’
St Pancras is of particular interest and inspiration to this Listed Londoner.
Originally from Ontario, Canada, Alison Brooks moved to London in 1988 and established her architecture practice in 1996.
Across a 30 year career she’s designed houses and residential structures, but also cultural and educational buildings, and exhibitions and public installations.
Brooks is the only UK architect to have won all three of the RIBA awards - including the Stirling Prize, for her work on the Accordia housing development in Cambridge.
In London, her most recent completed project is Cadence in King’s Cross - a red-brick tower, which draws inspiration from the arches of nearby St Pancras. She’s currently working on a massive redevelopment of the LSE.
This year she was awarded an OBE for services to architecture.
