Aberfan: Newsnight Special

Available for over a year

Sixty years on from the Aberfan disaster, three survivors who were in the same class at Pantglas Junior School when it was engulfed by a colliery spoil tip have spoken to BBC Newsnight's Victoria Derbyshire in a special programme. Gaynor Madgwick, Jeff Edwards and Gerald Kirwan recount the moment the disaster struck, the loss of classmates and family members, and the psychological trauma they have carried throughout their lives. They also reflect on the fight for justice and the parallels they see between Aberfan and subsequent public scandals.
