Former Cardiff City captain Don Murray has died at the age of 80 following a long illness.
The Scotland-born defender spent 13 years with the Bluebirds after joining the club in 1962, making more than 500 appearances.
Murray made his debut aged 17 against Middlesbrough in 1963 and holds the club record for consecutive league appearances, having played 146 successive matches between May 1968 and November 1971.
He was part of the Cardiff side that reached the European Cup Winners' Cup semi-finals in 1968 and later featured in the famous 1-0 victory over Real Madrid at Ninian Park in 1971.
A Scotland Under-23 international, Murray left Cardiff in 1975 and returned to his native country, where he spent a season with Hearts.
He also played for Newport County under his former Cardiff manager Jimmy Scoular and had a spell with Barry Town.
Cardiff City said in a statement: "On the pitch, few have or will surpass the contribution given by Don to Cardiff City Football Club between 1962 and 1975.
"The club offers its deepest condolences to Don's family, friends and former team-mates at this very sad time. He will be greatly missed."
