Head coach Domingo leaves Hampshire after one season

Russell Domingo was named Hampshire head coach in December last year

Hampshire head coach Russell Domingo has left his position after less than a year in the role.
The 52-year-old South African took over from Adi Birrell last December on a two-year deal but departs after seeing Hampshire relegated to the second tier of the County Championship after 12 years in the top flight.
The Hawks did make it to the final of the T20 Blast but lost to Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Edgbaston, while they failed to progress from the group stage of the One-Day Cup.
Following their relegation in September, Domingo described the team as in a transition period and needing a reset before returning to action next year.
Hampshire say the process to appoint a new head coach is under way.
"I'd like to thank everyone at Hampshire Cricket for the opportunity to be part of the club over the past season," former South Africa and Bangladesh coach Domingo said in a statement on the club website.
"Hampshire is a special club with a proud history, passionate supporters and a talented group of players and staff.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and valued the relationships I've built across the club.
"My focus is now on my coaching commitments in South Africa, and I leave knowing the club has a talented group of players and staff and a bright future ahead."

Hants will look to appoint in new year - analysis
BBC Radio Solent's Hampshire commentator Kevan James:
This news has come out of the blue.
My understanding is that the decision has nothing to do with Hampshire being relegated from Division One.
The South African domestic season this year started in the second week of September and is not due to finish until almost the end of April so this shaves almost two months off the English campaign.
Russell is head coach of the Johannesburg-based Lions team.
The 52-year-old felt that Hampshire currently needs someone to be around for all of the English season at the very least.
Hampshire's search for a new head coach begins now and they will look to appoint in the new year.
There are several high-profile international coaches that could and will be linked with the role.
But if Hampshire decide to promote from within then Shane Burger - a fellow South African who made a very good impression in his first year the Utilita Bowl as a bowling coach - will also be in the frame.
He has head coach experience, having previously held that role with the Scotland national team.
