Middlesbrough head coach Kim Hellberg has said he will be looking to use his squad for the challenges of a week on the road.

The Championship leaders are at Wrexham on Wednesday (19:45 GMT) before travelling south again for a trip to Watford on Saturday afternoon less than 72 hours later.

And while Boro are riding on the crest of an 11-match unbeaten run in the league, Hellberg believes this is the time to call upon his squad depth.

"For us playing on Wednesday and then Saturday and travelling for both of them, coming in the middle of the night on Thursday, if I don't use the squad now, when am I going to use it?," Hellberg told BBC Radio Tees.

The match at Wrexham is Boro's fourth midweek game of the season in the Championship and comparing the other occasions when they have played two games in three days, Hellberg has made two changes to his starting line-up.

For these two away fixtures, Middlesbrough face opponents who will have had an extra day's rest as well as home advantage, so it is a further test of the Teessiders' credentials.

"It's not about giving people things they don't deserve, but when we worked well in creating depth, it will now be tested," said the Swede.

"You don't see any team in the Championship playing the same team all the time because you cannot do it in this league.

"It's always about balancing. It will come down to the quality in depth and how good are our players as a group. It's important to show everyone that we have that."
