Hello, folks. Saturday's qualifying was so close to being a washout in Sao Paulo but the skies dried just enough for Lando Norris to claim his third consecutive pole position at the famous Interlagos circuit.

The 2025 world champion will be sharing the front row with the new title holder in town, Kimi Antonelli. The Italian gains a spot today because of Mercedes team-mate George Russell's five-place grid penalty. Briton Russell was gutted to miss out on pole and instead of starting P2, he drops to P7 instead.

Russell is still the highest starter of those drivers still in with a shout of second place in the drivers' championship, though. Max Verstappen's fine run of form in recent races means he occupies that spot after the Mexico City Grand Prix last weekend.

But the Dutchman, along with nearest rival Lewis Hamilton, is falling right to the back of the grid because of penalties for power-unit changes.

Brazil, like Mexico, is getting ready to host a potential title party tonight. Mercedes are on the brink of sealing the constructors' championship and need to outscore Ferrari by at least three points to be crowned winners.

There is rain in the air for this 71-lap grand prix today, so we should maybe prepare ourselves for a touch of chaos.
