Speaking to Eddie Nestor as part of a BBC Radio London hotseat interview last week, David Rowe from the Transport for London was asked about cyclists on the route.
"There will be physical gates that stop the cyclists," he said. "There are bollards where pedestrians walk, which prevents the access for other users [cyclists], we've thought about that very carefully in terms of how we lay out the street."
This morning, street security at the Oxford Circus end of the street were seen attempting to get cyclists to dismount - with mixed success.
BBC reporters on the street this morning have witnessed many cyclists pedalling through the bollards and cycling on the pavements.
