  1. Close of play at Northantspublished at 18:17 BST 3 September

    Northants 225-7 v Durham 205

Northants will head into day three with a lead of 20 over Durham and three wickets in hand.

James Sales was run out for 69 shortly before stumps, while Ben Stokes has figures of 3-40.

The game is in the balance.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:16 BST 3 September

    Robson b Balderson 10 (Middx 247 & 28-1 v Lancs 151)

Decent bit of late movement largely off the seam darts this through to Sam Robson's off stump before he gets his defences organised.

George Balderson has started really well here in this second dig with two maidens followed by a wicket maiden.

  3. Surrey's senior openers battling at The Ovalpublished at 18:06 BST 3 September

    Surrey 9-0 chasing 185 v Yorks

With 54 Test matches and 57 first-class centuries between them could Rory Burns and Dom Sibley change the pattern of this game.

They actually put on 15 before Surrey's astonishing first innings collapse started.

Now they're playing carefully, fending off the odd lifting delivery and trying to dig in. They have as much time as they want in the run chase.

  4. wicket

SOMERSET 441 ALL OUTpublished at 18:03 BST 3 September

Vaughan st Cooke b Crane 68 (Somerset lead by 247 runs)

Archie Vaughan nails a six off Ben Kellaway in the penultimate over to leave nine needed from the 110th over of the innings (and the last available over to score bonus points).

But first ball to Mason Crane he is stumped going for a huge swipe to the cow corner.

The innings falls nine short of an fifth batting point but it does at least give Somerset a good chance to wrap this match up early.

  5. Price into the attackpublished at 18:02 BST 3 September

    Derby 144-1 v Gloucs 237 ao

Gloucestershire skipper Cameron Bancroft calls upon the off-spin of Ollie Price for the first time in the match.

Price's over is threatening, with two LBW shouts, one of which looking close but rightly not given.

Maybe some promising signs for Gloucestershire.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:01 BST 3 September

    Lehmann c Yates v Woakes 3 (Hants 57-3 v Warks 398)

It's a defensive shot from Jake Lehmann and he edges to second slip where Rob Yates makes the face high catch look easy.

Still eight overs due to be bowled in the day.

  7. Postpublished at 17:56 BST 3 September

    Somerset 434-9 v Glam 194

Somerset need 16 runs from 12 balls if they are to take maximum batting bonus points.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:53 BST 3 September

    Leach b Kellaway 4 (Somerset 431-9 v Glam 194)

Could wickets rather than runs deny them the extra batting point?

Archie Vaughan hits a six off Ben Kellaway but a single exposes Jack Leach and the off spinner rips one away from leg stump to hit off.

If Leach is to get out it will always be best to get out to a ripper with a third innings of his own bowling to come and a healthy lead.

  9. Surrey back inpublished at 17:52 BST 3 September

    Surrey 2-0 chasing 185 v Yorks

The fourth innings of the day is under way.

If the light holds we'll have 22 overs left today.

    Will Surrey last that long?

  10. 50 runs

50 for Archie Vaughanpublished at 17:50 BST 3 September

    Somerset 423-8 v Glam 194

This has been a fine knock from the young all-rounder with his 52 coming from 59 balls as he dab-chops a delivery from Mason Crane down to third man boundary.

Eight fours in his half century.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:48 BST 3 September

    Tear c Allison b Harmer 3 (Essex 177 v Sussex 275 & 40-3)

Not a great dismissal for Charlie Tear who mistimes a drive with minimal footwork and holes out to Charlie Allison at extra cover/widish mid off.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:47 BST 3 September

    Gubbins b Suthar 22 (Hants 50-2 v Warks 398)

Warwickshire's India spinner Manav Suthar, who has taken 23 wickets in three test matches, could be a key player on a turning pitch at Southampton.

But really his first wicket is something of a gift as Nick Gubbins tries a reverse slog sweep, misses and is bowled.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Bin Naeempublished at 17:45 BST 3 September

    Derby 121-1 v Gloucs 237 ao

Yousaf Bin Naeem bring up his half-century with an elegant cover drive for four.

It has been a watchful innings from the 20-year-old.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:45 BST 3 September

    Gregory c sub (W Root) b Crane 14 (Somerset 408-8 v Glam 194)

Lewis Gregory holes out in the deep trying to force this final batting bonus point and Mason Crane has a third wicket.

  15. Declarationpublished at 17:44 BST 3 September

    Notts 451-8 d

Brett Hutton skies one off Josh Hull to bring his flourish of 25 off 11 to an end, and with that comes the Nottinghamshire declaration.

Liam Patterson-White ends 111 not out, a fine performance.

The Nottinghamshire seamers will look to mimic Leicestershire's opening session and take some quick wickets.

  16. End of innings for Yorkshirepublished at 17:40 BST 3 September

    Coad c Blake b Worrall 9 (Surrey v Yorkshire 82 lead by 184)

Surrey were bowled out in 30 overs in their first innings. The Yorkshire second innings has lasted 29 overs.

Ben Coad is caught in the deep off Dan Worrall so Surrey will have to match Yorkshire's first innings total to win.

Matt Fisher finishes with a career best 6-25. Even allowing for the good bowling and difficult conditions it was, in truth, a sorry batting display from Yorkshire who seemed to have the match in their hands earlier in the day.

  17. Hutton on the charge for Nottspublished at 17:34 BST 3 September

    Notts 435-7

Brett Hutton hits three consecutive boundaries off Josh Hull.

Two of the boundaries are pulled nicely between fine leg and deep square, whilst one is carved through the vacant cover area on the off-side.

Hull still struggling to find any consistency, he has bowled 17 overs - 1-89.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:32 BST 3 September

    Dom Bess c Foakes b Lawes 17 (Surrey v Yorks 82-9 lead by 194)

Yorkshire lose their ninth wicket still one run short of Surrey's first innings total.

Tom Lawes leaps in the air to celebrate as Dom Bess edges behind after the ninth wicket pair added 17 useful runs.

I know, daft to call 17 a partnership, but the way today has gone...

  19. 100 up for Derbyshirepublished at 17:30 BST 3 September

    Derby 101-1 v Gloucs 237

Derbyshire are going nicely in Bristol, as Yousaf Bin Naeem brings up the century with a pull for four off James Hayes.

It looked for a second that the pull might fall into the hands of deep square, but it lands safely and races away for four.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:28 BST 3 September

    Sheat 15 c Cox b Ahmed (Notts 422-7)

Rehan Ahmed comes back into the attack from the Radcliffe road end.

So far, he has bowled 10 overs 0-51, bowling figures that would suit a 50 over game better than a four-day fixture!

His first ball of his new spell is deposited for six over cow by Fraser Sheat, but Ahmed follows up with a dot, then gets Sheat caught behind.

Brett Hutton comes out at number nine.
