Leicester City survived a difficult night in their first FA Cup first round tie for 18 years to progress at the expense of National League North side Oxford City.
The 2021 winners, who have since slumped into League One, went ahead in the first half through a first senior goal for promising 18-year-old Louis Page but were pegged back as Scott Pollock scored direct from a corner for the semi-professional outfit.
Goals from Foxes top scorer Emil Riis and Kamari Doyle seemed to have ended the brave resistance of the Hoops, but Josh Ashby's lobbed finish cut the deficit to one goal again.
Brighton loanee Tommy Watson came off the bench to secure Leicester's place in the second round with a sharp finish with eight minutes remaining.
There are 64 league places between League One promotion hopefuls Leiceter and their opponents, who lie second in National League North, and it showed in the opening phase as the home side were at full stretch to contain slicker, sharper opponents.
Leicester lacked a final product until teenager Page further enhanced his growing reputation by firing in from 25 yards, his shot taking a slight deflection off defender Ludwig Francilette.
The Hoops rallied and were level at half-time as midfielder Pollock claimed his 10th goal of the season by swinging a right-sided corner in with his left foot, the ball evading a host of players to nestle in the far corner.
Leicester boss Russell Martin sent on 18-year-old Brighton loanee Harry Howell at half-time, and he provided the quality in the final third which had been lacking.
His perfect cross to the far post left Riis with an unmissable header for his eighth goal of the season, and six minutes later Howell was again involved as Leicester seemed to take full control.
He again stretched the Hoops on their left side, but this time fed Page, who nudged the ball on for Doyle to finish expertly with the outside of his foot.
Oxford refused to lie down and three minutes later their strong pressing paid dividends as Leicester lost the ball and Ashby burst through to lob a clever volley over goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli.
The effort began to tell on the part-timers however, and Leicester went for the kill, finally getting a decisive fourth goal through another Brighton loanee, as former Sunderland play-off hero Tommy Watson skipped past a defender and found the bottom corner.
