So, victory for Bournemouth tonight sees them up to second in the Europa League table.

A first loss in Europe for Sunderland means they drop to 11th while Crystal Palace salvaged a point earlier tonight and sit 21st.

In the Europa Conference League, Brighton are fifth in the table after holding onto a narrow victory tonight.

  3. 'The players tried until the end'published at 22:30 GMT 5 November

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris speaking to TNT Sports: "Tough. I think we had two different halves and the first one was difficult. Many young players played and it's not easy to manage. It's not easy to change the dynamic, I appreciated the change in the second half, with more experienced players.

"More quality, more experience on the pitch, we are unlucky because we created many chances but it wasn't enough but sometimes it's like this. Sometimes you go on a poor run, but we are still competitive, the players tried until the end."

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler speaking to TNT Sports: "These games in the Conference League are different. You have to beat a low block. You have to understand what the opponents are looking for in the game. Therefore, you have to always be patient in these games and I think we did it today.

"We didn't play our best game, to be fair. We had a few moments where we were quite lazy with the easy things. We didn't do the simple things on the highest level but in the end we kept a clean sheet, third clean sheet in a row in this tournament and we scored a goal and I think we deserved to win this game."

On the plan with Pascal Gross after playing 16 games in a row: "At one point we need to manage him as well, but at the moment he just keeps running. He seems to be in a good shape. Today he didn't play the full 90 minutes, also manage the energy from the players like this."

On Brighton fans getting excited about winning the competition: "They should dream, that's what I always say. We focus on work. We focus on the things we can control. They should dream and hopefully at one point we can fulfil their dream."

  6. Sunderland need 'a little bit of luck'published at 22:23 GMT 5 November

    FT: Sunderland 0-2 Dinamo Zagreb

I think the injection of Brian Brobbey and Trai Hume was key.

Hume had a great strike, and you talk about putting your body on the line. I think Dinamo Zagreb put their body on the line and nullified Sunderland's threat. But Sunderland need something to drop, a little bit of luck going their way, and if they sure that desire like they did in the second half then hopefully they can build some momentum on that.

  7. 'Europa League class is a step above for Sunderland'published at 22:19 GMT 5 November

    FT: Sunderland 0-2 Dinamo Zagreb

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on TNT Sports

    On Sunderland's struggles:

It's always heartbreaking for a team and a manager to concede from a set-piece. When you're a team that's struggling to keep a clean sheet, you don't want to concede from a set-piece because someone's lost their man, someone's switched off and lost concentration.

That seems to be the running theme from Sunderland, whether it's from set-pieces or open play. I felt they didn't really get going.

Ultimately, they're in a competition where the class is a step above for them at the moment.

Sorry Regis but enough is enough, we look a pale imitation of the side that qualified for Europe last season and although the summer recruitment was poor the tactics and team selections this season have been way off what has been expected.

BBC Sport understands Regis Le Bris will be given more time to turn things around at Sunderland but it is almost like the Frenchman has become a victim of his own success.

Doing so well in the Premier League last season means expectations were high this campaign but, realistically, the demands of playing every Thursday and Sunday seem to be taking their toll.

  10. Elsewhere tonightpublished at 22:11 GMT 5 November

There were some big results in Europe this evening. In the Europa League Juventus have held on to win 2-1 at AZ Alkmaar, while Marseille have smashed and grabbed their way to a 1-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen.

Benfica have defeated Lech Poznan 3-1 in Lisbon, but Spanish side Celta Vigo have lost 2-1 at home to Belgium club Union Saint-Gilloise.

In the earlier games Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Hoffenheim and AC Milan lost 2-0 at home to Hungarians Ferencvaros.

Feel sorry for Sunderland. It's a results driven business and they are a good bet for relegation. Their achievements of last season are now a distant memory.

  14. 'In the second half they showed tremendous character'published at 21:58 GMT 5 November

    FT: Getafe 0-1 Brighton

    Adam Virgo

Can Brighton play better? Yes. But what I will say is they have had a tough run of fixtures, and then they're here away again, so it's been a tough period for them in terms of the squad rotation, and the fixtures that they have had to come up against. But those travelling Brighton fans will enjoy the victory.

In the second half they showed tremendous character. They controlled the game a bit better, and neither side really took the game to the other but Brighton will certainty be delighted with the win.

Not really much that Le Bris could do tonight. The goals conceded were poor and the attack has been wasteful against a very stubborn Zagreb.
