  1. Wrexham must be on 'A-game' against Bristol City - Parkinsonpublished at 04:20 GMT 17 February

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson says his side will need to bring their "A-game" if they are to get a result away at Bristol City on Tuesday evening (19:45 GMT).

Both sides begin the day narrowly outside the Championship's top six, and a win for either club would see them move into the play-off places.

Wrexham are chasing a fifth consecutive away win for the first time since 2003, when they achieved the feat in the fourth tier of English football.

And with hopes of a fourth-consecutive promotion in the balance, Parkinson recognised the challenge awaiting them - both on Tuesday evening and the rest of the season.

"It's where you are at the end of the season that counts," said Parkinson.

"They're in the mix, so are we. It is a game against another team who have been up there for a while.

"Every game has got an edge to it because there are so many teams in contention, the whole division has a lot to play for.

"It's a great challenge going to these established teams, but we're concentrating on ourselves and how we keep improving."

Wrexham are looking to complete the double over the Robins having run out 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture at the Stok Cae Ras in November.

A win would see Parkinson's side climb above Derby and Preston into sixth place on 50 points.

But the Wrexham boss says that will only happen if they are at their best at Ashton Gate.

"They've got a lot of players who have been at this level a long time and experienced being in the top six," Parkinson added.

"On their day they are very good, but we are a match for anyone. It's the details which will separate the sides on the night.

"We need to go down there and bring our A-game. Nothing less than that will be good enough."

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has pledged not to discuss his side's plum home FA Cup fifth round tie against Chelsea.

The Championship play-off hopefuls were drawn against the Premier League side in the next round of the competition on Monday night.

Before the draw was made, Parkinson was asked about how he and the club would react in the event of a home tie.

He replied: "We said after [beating] Ipswich that if we can get a third home draw on the bounce that will be brilliant for us... but when the draw is out the way I won't be talking about the FA Cup until the next four league games are out the way.

"It is stages in the club's development or re-emergence as a football club going into these stages of the FA Cup.

"We wanted to play a Premier League team, we hadn't done that since I had been here and we played [Nottingham] Forest, it was a brilliant night and test for us.

"All along it is about testing ourselves as a group and keep putting markers down. Whoever it is we will be ready."

Versatile George Thomason said: "If we can get the Racecourse rocking then that will always add an advantage to ourselves, but all the lads are buzzing.

"Being in this round shows how far the club has come in such a short space of time.

"Thankfully we are in a position where we can compete against anyone, especially at home. I have no doubt the whole town will be rocking."

Bristol City and Wrexham will face each other harbouring hopes of regaining a place in the play-off positions when they meet at Ashton Gate on Tuesday (19:45 GMT).

Both sides are in prime position to oust current sixth place holders Derby County but will need to take a win to do so.

    • This is the first time Bristol City are hosting Wrexham in a league match since April 2005, and a 1-0 win for the Robins in League One.

    • Following their 2-0 win in November, Wrexham are looking to complete the league double over Bristol City in the Football League for the third time (also 1962-63 and 1980-81).

    • Bristol City lost 5-0 against Derby in their last home league game. They last lost consecutive league matches at Ashton Gate in November 2024, while they last did so without scoring in March 2024.

    • Wrexham have won their last four away league games, having been winless in their previous eight on the road (D5 L3). They last won five in a row in the same Football League campaign in April/May 2003 in the fourth tier.

    • Bristol City forward Emil Riis' next goal will be his 50th in the Championship. He would be the first Danish player to reach this milestone in the EFL (Championship, League One, League Two) since the 2004 rebrand.

The Adran Premier clash between Swansea City and Wrexham has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The first match of Phase Two had been scheduled to kick-off at Llandarcy Academy of Sport at 14:00 GMT, but heavy rain in south Wales has made the surface unplayable.

Wrexham did the double over Swansea in Phase One of the Adran Premier. A new date will be announced in due course.

  7. Windass pleased to deliver 'special' night for fanspublished at 15:17 GMT 14 February

Josh Windass was pleased to produce a "special" night for Wrexham fans as they overcame Ipswich Town to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Windass netted the only goal of the contest as Phil Parkinson's men reached the last-16 of the competition for the first time in 29 years.

"Our main focus is the league but these nights are nice to win and get through," Windass said.

"The fans are the most important people at any club, and if they can have nights like this then it's special for them."

Windass' 34th minute strike against the Tractor Boys was the forward's ninth goal of the campaign across all competitions.

It comes on the back of what has been a testing spell for the summer signing - who has been playing through an injury.

"It's been frustrating. The last two months or so, I was injured quite a bit," added the 32-year-old.

"I was playing through injury quite a lot, so it was frustrating not being able to play my best stuff. When you're playing through knocks and stuff, it's difficult.

"We played a lot over Christmas, we won a lot of games, I still scored a lot of goals.

"Playing through injury was a bit difficult, but I'm fine now."

Wrexham welcome Championship promotion rivals Ipswich to the Stok Cae Ras in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night (19:45 GMT).

The Red Dragons are sixth, three places below the Tractor Boys, FA Cup winners in 1978.

Phil Parkinson's side are winless in their past three home games while Kieran McKenna's Town have taken seven points from their past four games on the road.

    • This will be just the second time that Wrexham and Ipswich Town have met in the FA Cup; the Welsh side won 2-1 at the Racecourse Ground in the third round in the 1994/95 season.

    • Ipswich Town have faced Welsh opposition four times in the FA Cup, progressing from three of those; their 2-1 defeat vs Wrexham in January 1995 the only exception.

    • Wrexham will be looking to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 1996/97, a season during which they beat Peterborough United 4-2 in the fourth round before losing 1-0 at the quarter-final stage against Chesterfield.

    • Ipswich have been eliminated from 10 of their past 12 FA Cup fourth round ties, though did win at this stage last season when they defeated Coventry City 4-1 away from home.

    • Wrexham are unbeaten across their past nine home FA Cup proper ties (W5 D4), since a 2-1 defeat to Oxford United in the second round in December 2013. Each of the Welsh side's last five home games in the competition have seen them score 3+ goals.

Championship leaders Middlesbrough are celebrating winning both the manager and player of the month awards for January.

Boss Kim Hellberg led Boro to five wins from their six league games last month, with them scoring 14 goals as they chased down the leaders Coventry City before overtaking them at the top of the table last weekend.

Midfielder Alan Browne won the player award, having also filled in at wing-back and scored three goals.

Philippe Clement of Norwich, Wrexham's Phil Parkinson and Derby head coach John Eustace were also nominated for the manager accolade.

Wrexham striker Sam Smith and defenders Charlie Hughes (Hull City) and Caleb Taylor (Millwall) missed out of the player award.

Middlesbrough visit second-placed Coventry in the Championship on Monday night (20:00 GMT).

Parkinson is up against Middlesbrough's Kim Hellberg, Norwich City's Philippe Clement and Derby County's John Eustace for the manager's award.

Forward Smith netted against Blackburn Rovers, Derby, Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday to end the month with four goals.
