Nobody has more birdies in 2026 than Kim Si-woo, and he collects another on the sixth to go a shot clear at the top of the leaderboard.

The South Korean's approach shot is six yards from the pin, but he manages to nudge it into the hole from six yards off the green.

It changes so quickly at The Open.

Within 10 minutes, Tommy Fleetwood and Scottie Scheffler have gone from one off the lead to three back.

  3. Young short in two at 17published at 15:48 BST 19 July

    Young -9 (16)

Another titanic drive from Cameron Young at the par-five 17th. 217 yards in, he's talking to his ball as it whistles through the air.

It comes up short right but he'll have plenty of green to work with as he chases his seventh birdie of the round.

  4. More trouble for Burnspublished at 15:48 BST 19 July

    Burns -9, Fox -9 (5)

It gets worse for Sam Burns, who is going through a tough spell over the past half an hour.

He is forced to take a drop on the sixth after going left with his tee shot and what's now his third shot to the par four doesn't find the green.

Ryan Fox hasn't been perfect off the tee either but is finding ways to recover.

  5. Bogey for Fleetwoodpublished at 15:47 BST 19 July

    Fleetwood -7 (9)

Just as quickly as Tommy Fleetwood got himself into contention then just that one mental error sees him dragged back down to reality.

Although Royal Birkdale has yielded some record low scores this week, if you miss it in the wrong spots there are plenty of big numbers out there.

He just has to shake that one off and get back on it, as there's no time to get your head down.

    DeChambeau -6, Suber -5 (7)

Oh that's a tough break for Bryson DeChambeau as he pitches nicely onto the eighth green only for his ball to spin backwards and trundle into the bunker.

A few cheers mixed in among the groans surrounding that area of the course.

  7. McIlroy finishes well backpublished at 15:44 BST 19 July

    McIlroy -1 (71)

Rory McIlroy gets burnt by the treacherous Birkdale bunkers. He leaves one in the greenside trap at 18 and it leads to a closing bogey and a disappointing final-round 71.

Ultimately a week to forget for McIlroy. Like last year, he started the major season with a glorious win at the Masters but there's been little joy at the three other majors.

He started with a two-over 72 and just never really got it going all week. One step forward, two steps back.

    Fleetwood -8 (8)

Uh oh. Fleetwood looks to have the line but not the length.

His ball pitched about pin high and bounded off the back of the green.

With the pin position so deep, Fleetwood has little room to get his chip back up and stopping close from down the slope. Especially on these grilled greens.

    Nightmare position to be honest.

  9. Tommy goes longpublished at 15:40 BST 19 July

    Fleetwood -8 (8)

Now Tommy Fleetwood could be in trouble as maybe adrenaline gets the better of him with an approach to the ninth from the middle of the fairway.

You just have to keep it short of the flag, but he lands it pin high and with the strengthening breeze that has no chance of holding. So off it goes and dives into some deep hay beyond the green.

That's a tough spot to play from as it all just starts getting a bit nervy out there now.

  10. Two holes left for Youngpublished at 15:39 BST 19 July

    Young -9 (16)

Another fairway found for Cameron Young at 16, but the pin is tucked tight right and he tugs his approach to the left.

Two putts from 50 feet required. Now's not the time to lose your touch on the greens, but he holds his nerve, takes his par and on he goes to the par-five 17th.

With that Sam Burns bogey on five, Young is tied for the lead.

  11. Burns drops another shotpublished at 15:39 BST 19 July

    Burns -9, Fox -9 (5)

Sam Burns can't hole his par putt and his lead over the rest of the field has disappeared.

Ryan Fox, meanwhile, has been good from distance so far today and his birdie attempt lips out. But he's now in a share of the lead after a second straight bogey for Burns.

    Scheffler -8 (12)

    Scottie SchefflerImage source, Getty Images

Oh no, Scottie Scheffler's ball is basically plugged in the sand in the rough along the right of the 13th hole, but he decides to have a bash at it.

Wrong choice as it turns out as all he can do is splash the ball up and out and advance it just a few yards in front of him!

  13. Burns in troublepublished at 15:36 BST 19 July

    Burns -10, Fox -9 (4)

    Now then...

Sam Burns is up towards the green at the fifth but he overhits his second and his ball slides down the slope at the other side of the green.

His putt back is overhit too, catches another slope and must be 30 feet by.

A very untidy hole and Burns might not be in the lead for much longer...

  14. DeChambeau makes seventh straight parpublished at 15:36 BST 19 July

    DeChambeau -6, Suber -5 (7)

Another missed green at a par three for Bryson DeChambeau on the seventh and he's ended up facing nine feet for par.

For the second straight hole, he puts it in and clenches a fist.

These par saves are vital, but he needs to get a move on up the leaderboard.

  15. Postpublished at 15:35 BST 19 July

    Scheffler -8 (12)

    Graeme Storm

Scheffler may have to take a penalty drop because he can't get his club to the back off the ball.

  16. Blocked rightpublished at 15:35 BST 19 July

    Scheffler -8 (12)

Oh dear, Scottie Scheffler just picked up a head of steam on 12 but then sprays his tee shot on 13 miles wide of the fairway and into the scrub.

That could be a momentum stuffer.

  17. Kim closes in on Burnspublished at 15:34 BST 19 July

    Gerard -6, Kim -9 (5)

Kim Si-woo moves to within a shot of leader Sam Burns.

The South Korean's chip on to the green at the fifth is absolutely on the money, leaving him with straightforward two-foot putt.

Ryan Gerard, however, drops a shot as he a wayward tee shot costs him.

  18. Who will win The Open?published at 15:33 BST 19 July

Is that the start of the Scheffler move?

    That was a massive putt.

  20. Scheffler birdie at lastpublished at 15:32 BST 19 July

    Scheffler -8, Ballester -1 (12)

Hold the phone, Scottie Scheffler may not be done just yet as he makes a birdie on 12 and he's now just two shots off the lead.

He finally manages to make a putt from range, 14 feet this time, in what's just his fourth make from outside 10 feet all week long at The Open.

    It. Just. Got. Interesting!
