There were some remarkable scenes at the netball final earlier.

Ben MacPherson is a busker who was singing on the streets on Glasgow yesterday when he was spotted by one of the Games staff.

They asked him to come along today to sing out the Hydro and he's just belted his songs out at half-time in the netball final.

Jamaica pulled off a shock win against world number ones Australia yesterday, but they fall just short of the gold medal.

New Zealand, ranked second in the world, are back on top of the podium - 16 years after they last won netball gold at the Commonwealth Games.

Jamaica lose 56-48 and will settle for silver, just like they did in Birmingham four years ago. No one can take away that unforgettable victory over Australia, though.

Scotland's Adlington out in first roundpublished at 11:02 BST 2 August

    Women's +78kg round of 16

There will be no third gold for Sarah Adlington.

Scotland's Adlington, who won gold in 2014 and 2022 in the women's +78kg category, has suffered a surprise first-round exit. She has been beaten by Yuko by Mauritius' Marie Loanne Durhone.

That's a real shame for the 39-year-old at her home Games.

Scotland's Fin Graham was urged on by an enthusiastic home crowd to set an exceptional time of 3:22.921 and smash the record just set by Robertson.

Northern Ireland's men's pair bowls team have taken the gold after being taken to a tie breaker by a defiant England.

The duo got off to a good start for a 6-2 in the first set but England came back to level the score with a 4-2 win in the second.

An excellent bowl from Northern Ireland's Gary Kelly in the tie-break proved too good for their opponents and meant he and team-mate Adam McKeown claimed victory in an unbeaten competition.

We'll leave the netball there for now. Jamaica will go for their first-ever gold in the sport later on when they face two-time winners New Zealand.

Let's have a look at what else has been going on this morning...

'We are really hurting'published at 10:49 BST 2 August

    Australia 68-50 England

England head coach Anna Stembridge speaking to TNT Sports: "We were looking for a strong start and we saw that to go goal for goal, but credit to the Diamonds. When they found their groove, they set the tone and we were chasing from there on really.

"The girls have been great. We went after connection, confidence and tactical clarity. They bought into that and they've connected brilliantly. They have shown great bounce backability and that game against South Africa really epitomised how they galvanised together and we really stuck to our processes.

"We're disappointed, currently really hurting but we will build from this. Hopefully this group will go on to great things in terms of the World Cup next year."

On what's next for herself: "I have been really transparent form the start. It was always about being focused on this competition. We have been transparent that it will go to advert, the head coach position. I will have to take some time to reassess for myself and my family."

'Maybe we played our final too soon'published at 10:44 BST 2 August

    Australia 68-50 England

More from an emotional Fran Williams to TNT Sports: "It's been so hard, the prep. But as a group I am so so proud of how we came together and how we have all supported each other. We love playing netball as a group and we know we are better than this.

"There was so much pressure on us to make that semi-final and it would have been massive if we didn't. Maybe we played our final too soon in that game [against South Africa] but I am just the proudest in the world. I love these girls and I am so proud to represent England."

  17. netball

'We have shown so much resilience'published at 10:41 BST 2 August

    Australia 68-50 England

More from England captain Fran Williams on TNT Sports about facing Australia: "It was another go again against the world number one and there aren't many times in your career up against the world number one so every opportunity is an opportunity to beat the best.

"You saw what it meant to Jamaica and what it means to World netball, it's huge, it's massive. That was our opportunity today to do something similar but we completely missed the mark.

"It's a shame but I am so proud of the team and we have shown so much resilience over these past 10 days."

  18. netball

'We are gutted'published at 10:38 BST 2 August

    Australia 68-50 England

England captain Fran Williams speaking to TNT Sports: "It was just so tough. When you come off the back with such a short turnaround to play in a game where you would be rather playing in the game later on today is really hard.

"I was really proud of the way we showed up at the start and we just showed we weren't able to hold onto that with how the score blew out. We are gutted with that. Really disappointed."

Australia complete the Commonwealth collectionpublished at 10:35 BST 2 August

    Australia 68-50 England

Australia have the full Commonwealth Games collection now.

    Gold in 1998, 2002, 2014 and 2022.

    Silver in 2006 and 2010.

    Bronze in 2026.

  20. netball

'We know how hard international netball is at the moment'published at 10:31 BST 2 August

    Australia 68-50 England

Australia's Liz Watson speaking to TNT Sports after claiming netball bronze: "Yesterday was a really tough day for the whole group. The way we came out and responded and have a really good performance and make a statement.

"We're disappointed about how we finished up with the bronze but we know how hard international netball is at the moment. It's not just Australia and New Zealand at the top anymore, there are so many great countries that are fighting for those positions. A lot to learn from this series.

"We love to put on this dress, we have such a rich history of success with the Diamonds and we pride ourselves on doing that and wanting to be better. We have to keep finding ways to win."
