As if Cardiff’s task in Northampton wasn’t tough enough, the Welsh side also have to content with a testing schedule.

The Blue and Blacks have a five-day turnaround from this fixture to a United Rugby Championship game against Sharks at the Arms Park on Friday.

They have selected accordingly with some influential figures held back, although they do have some notable players returning from injury.

Wales and Lions internationals Taulupe Faletau, who starts at number eight, and Josh Adams, who covers the back three from the bench, are poised for their first appearances of the campaign after injury.

They will provide calm heads under pressure while Wales fly-half Jarrod Evans makes a first start after returning from Harlequins last summer.

Northampton are known for their dashing play but keep an eye out for Cardiff's exciting young backs Tom Bowen, Steffan Emanuel and Matty Young.
