    Stephen Smyth

    It's stunning by Ireland!

Stephen Smyth is the man to crash over, but it's all about the work by Ulster's Harry Sheridan!

The second row spots a gap and goes himself, making 20 metres. He pops it off to Matthew Devine, who in turn sends Smyth over in the corner.

    Prendergast can't land the conversion.

    Pumas 7-12 Emerging Ireland

From one end to another in the blink of an eye!

Ben O'Connor brings Ireland into the Pumas' 22 and he finds Jude Postlewaithe.

Prendergast looks to send one into the corner but the ball is knocked on.

That was superb up to that moment, however. What a break!

    Pumas 7-12 Emerging Ireland

The hosts have a scrum in a promising position but Ireland manage to steal it once again.

That's three huge interventions by the Irish pack. Brilliant defence.

  9. try

Try- Pumas 7-12 Emerging Irelandpublished at 15:36 BST 2 October 2024

    Lundi Msenge (con Swart)

We did say it was better! The Pumas are on the board!

Tino Swanepoel does really well to burst through a tackle and find Lundi Msenge out wide, and the wing does the rest with a tidy finish under the posts,

    Clinton Swart adds the conversion.

  10. Postpublished at 15:35 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-12 Emerging Ireland

Clinton Swart links up nicely with Andre Fouche put Hugh Gavin is on hand to pull off a crucial tackle to half the momentum.

This is better from the Pumas.

Ireland won a free-kick from the scrum, took it quickly, went through two phases and Darragh Murray spotted a gap to dive over.

    As easy as that.

    Sam Prendergast converts.

  12. Postpublished at 15:32 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-5 Emerging Ireland

Ben O'Connor kicks the ball forward as Ireland, and his chase puts the fear into Darren Adonis, who spills the ball forward just before he is clattered by the Irish full back.

  13. Postpublished at 15:29 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-5 Emerging Ireland

    Massive defence.

Ireland get their hands on the ball and win the penalty, which Prendergast clears up to halfway.

  14. Postpublished at 15:28 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-5 Emerging Ireland

The Pumas are having a good spell of possession here as they creep towards the line.

They've made it up to the five metre line.

  15. Postpublished at 15:24 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-5 Emerging Ireland

It's almost brilliant by Prendergast, who spots space behind the Pumas' defence and dinks it towards the corner.

It looks like it is rolling just into touch, but a nasty bounce at the last second sends it the wrong side of the line and play is brought back for a scrum on halfway.

  16. Postpublished at 15:22 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-5 Emerging Ireland

    Brilliant defence by Ireland!

They hold firm and some really strong counter rucking turns the ball over and Ireland can clear.

The Pumas have the line out right in the corner after putting on some strong pressure from the restart.

    Zac Ward

    Zac WardImage source, Inpho

What a start to life in 15s by Zac Ward!

Ireland looked to move it wide again and it finds Ward out wide. He has a lot to do about 22 metres out, but he beats three players and crosses unchallenged.

He was in some form for Ireland's Sevens at the Paris Olympics. He's carried that into his life as a 15s wing!

    Prendergast misses the conversion.

  19. Postpublished at 15:16 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-0 Emerging Ireland

Ireland look to spread it wide quickly once again but the ball has gone forward and the attack slips away.

  20. Postpublished at 15:15 BST 2 October 2024

    Pumas 0-0 Emerging Ireland

Ireland are almost through again but Cormac Izuchukwu's pass just falls to a South African hand, rather than a green jersey.

Simon Easterby's side have looked pretty slick, but just lacking that final touch.
