Image source, SNSScott Cummings believes Scotland are better placed than a year ago to close out games against the top nations as they prepare to face New Zealand in the Nations Championship at Murrayfield on Saturday.
When the sides met in Edinburgh last autumn, the Scots rallied from 17-0 down to level the match but passed up numerous chances before Damien McKenzie's late try sealed victory for the All Blacks.
As Scotland seek a first win over New Zealand Cummings thinks the hosts are better equipped to capitalise should they engineer a similar position this weekend.
"We've definitely talked a lot about how momentum changes in games and how to react when things don't go your way and how things do go your way," said the Glasgow Warriors lock.
"I think obviously that was a massive game last time. We managed to come back, we were very close and then they scored late, they put us away.
"Definitely taken learnings from that and from the Argentina game where we were so far out ahead [leading 21-0] and then they came back and won quite convincingly in the end of it.
"There's lots of learnings from back then and I definitely feel that we've grown as a squad in trying to manage those situations."
