Shani Saviciene, who gave Meghan a healing crystal for "positivity", said she begged to speak to the Duchess of Sussex.

The 30-year-old said: "Meghan was actually on that side [of the pavement]. I don't know if she realised there were fans on this side.

"So then I tapped one of her team members and begged them 'please, please, please can she come to this side?'

"And then she did, and I said to her, 'I love you so much. I've given one of your team, like, a healing crystal for you', and she was really grateful."

Asked why she gave Meghan a crystal, Shani said: "I just want her to be protected, uplifted, and just have as much positivity around her as possible."

As a reminder, Harry and Meghan are not working royals.

They are here in Nottingham as public figures, and as supporters of individual projects.

The Royal Household has made it clear they view them as private citizens.

But there's no doubt that a day like this all looks and feels, very royal.

  3. Harry and Meghan visit 'was intimate'published at 11:50 BST 15 October

    Two women

Friends Sharon Reay, 41, and Anna Sanders, 39, from Nottingham, have met Harry before.

Sharon said: "Meghan - she was very petite, she had a very slick ponytail and she looked beautiful.

"It was the first time meeting her today. When they first got engaged, they were in Nottingham and we met Harry then the first time around.

"It was a lot nicer and much smaller today. We felt like we got to hear him talking to the kids. It was intimate.

"They bring a personality and a warmth."

Friends Irene Hardman and Mary Cooper met Harry and Meghan in 2017, and came to see them again with a picture from their first encounter.

    Irene said: "They were lovely.

"When he saw the picture he said 'oh my goodness me', and he said he remembered it well.

"I said 'I bet you don't but it's nice to hear'. They're lovely people, they're so friendly and willing to stand and talk and have a chat.

"I was talking to him as though he was my mate."

Mary added: "There's a lot more people here today than there were last time.

"I wish it was a royal engagement. I think there so few young royals. I wish there would be a reconciliation. I thought he ought to have security as well."

Of Meghan, she added: "She was absolutely delightful - she's a pleasure to talk to."

Reece said their relationship had been about as long as Harry and Meghan's, and he has followed their journey.

The second stop for Harry and Meghan will be Himmah, a charity in Hyson Green that seeks to tackle poverty, food insecurity, racism and social exclusion through community meals, food parcels and providing support.

The couple will first see a cooking class at the Himmah Hub, before visiting the charity's food bank.

The duchess's relationship with Himmah grew after the Together: Our Community Cookbook was published in 2018.

In 2021, Meghan donated £10,000 to Himmah from sales, which Harry then matched with his own donation - saying: "Nottingham holds a special place in my heart, having had the privilege of visiting and supporting the community there for over a decade."

The couple will then head back to Sneinton for their final stop of the day to visit Epic Partners, which supports children, young people and families through youth work, sport, mentoring and education.

Harry began a relationship with the charity's work in 2013 when he visited St Ann's in the city, which led to the Full Effect partnership between Epic and CRS, supported by The Royal Foundation from 2013 to 2020.

The partnership mixed community-based support with school interventions, including music and creative activities.

During their 2017 royal visit, Meghan met young people supported by Full Effect and spent time with Epic's girls' nurture group.

Leonora Ncomanzi, one of the young people she mentored, was invited to the couple's wedding celebrations.

Harry's support continued through a donation to BBC Children in Need, while last year he donated a further £50,000 to Epic-supported apprenticeships organisation Coach Core.

Harry and Meghan's spokesperson has told BBC News they were "really excited" to be back together in Nottingham, nine years since their last joint visit (below).

"They are back here primarily because they support and believe in the organisations they are visiting," they said.

"They enjoy coming back to revisit projects they are personally invested in, to meet the same people and understand what is happening and how things are changing."

He didn't know Meghan and Harry were back in the UK, but said he was a fan of Meghan, having watched her in US legal drama Suits.

Asked what he thought of them being in Nottingham, he said: "It's pretty cool, it'll make a good story."
