And now Isack Hadjar is under investigation for crossing the line at the pit entry. It's not been the red Bull driver's day.

Right then. Who is your pick for pole? Is Charles Leclerc keeping hold it, or can someone else mount a challenge?

  2. Postpublished at 22:05 GMT 31 October

Isack Hadjar ran his Red Bull very wide at Turn 13 following a lock-up on his Q3 lap, so the Frenchman bailed his attempt and is without a time to his name.

George Russell's attempt is good enough for the second row in P3, while Kimi Antonelli can only manage fourth with his opening time.

So, who made it through to Q3? The big dogs are all there, minus one of the McLarens, and are joined by the two Racing Bulls of Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad, plus the Alpine of Pierre Gasly.

Pole position is not everything, but everyone still wants it.

Track temperature is tumbling at an extraordinary rate. It is a real factor here and they will all have to adapt. It will change the way these cars behave.

  9. Go! Go! Go!published at 21:55 GMT 31 October

This might be a tough one to predict tonight. Pole position feels wide open at the moment.

    Here we go then.

    Q3 is green.

  10. Have your say by using the 'get involved' buttonpublished at 21:54 GMT 31 October

I’m no Ferrari fan but they could have been right in this title fight if they had just got the engine right this year. They just seem to fall short in quali and the races. Can they sort it for 2027?

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" says Haas driver Ollie Bearman when told he has failed to reach the top-10 shootout and will start P15.

That was odd session for McLaren. While world champion Lando Norris topped the times ahead of four-time title winner Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri has been left bewildered as to how he's ended up out of the pole fight in Mexico.

  12. 'A real shock'published at 21:51 GMT 31 October

    Marc Priestley

Wow that is a real shock and Piastri will be bitterly disappointed when he has seen what his team-mate has done.

The track temperature has dropped dramatically. I think the McLaren is really susceptible to that and I suspect they lost their way in dialling into the conditions.

Piastri will find it very hard from down there running into turn one tomorrow.

    16. Carlos Sainz (Williams)

  14. Piastri knocked outpublished at 21:48 GMT 31 October

Nico Hulkenberg can only go ninth on the board, which now becomes P10 with Pierre Gasly's better lap time.

Brit Oliver Bearman can save himself this weekend, but can McLaren's Oscar Piastri?

No! The Australian gets the boot in Q2 in P13. He tells his pit wall he doesn't know what happened.

  15. Hamilton up to P3published at 21:47 GMT 31 October

With the form of Ferrari so far this weekend, a Q2 knockout wasn’t really on the cards. Lewis Hamilton's latest lap on the softs is good enough for P3 on the timesheets, which pushes Oscar Piastri down into the danger spots in P11.

  16. Postpublished at 21:45 GMT 31 October

Rookie Arvid Lindblad reaches the heights of P3 for Racing Bulls, but he has to make way for reigning world champion Lando Norris, who can better his time by a tenth.

Norris' team-mate Oscar Piastri is on the cusp in 10th place and preparing for his lap, as Lewis Hamilton slips down to the bottom of the pile in P16.

  18. Verstappen to the toppublished at 21:42 GMT 31 October

The Red Bull has struggled so this weekend, but could this be the turning point for the team? Max Verstappen completes a good lap and goes 0.068 seconds quicker than the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc. However, the Dutchman does have that one-place drop hanging over him tonight.

Nico Hulkenberg has lifted his Audi up to P6, while the other Scuderia of Lewis Hamilton is stuck in the elimination zone.

  19. 'I cannot call a clear favourite'published at 21:40 GMT 31 October

    Marc Priestley
Former F1 mechanic on Radio 5 Live in Mexico City

I think it has been a while that we've not had a clear frontrunner to this level anyway. At the moment I don't think I could call anybody to be a clear favourite here. Everyone is going to be so, so close as the session rolls on.

  20. Leclerc quickestpublished at 21:39 GMT 31 October

Charles Leclerc safely makes it through the Turn 13 danger zone and puts his Ferrari quickest with a time of 1:16.944. All drivers are on the soft compound, but it's a mix of old and new across the field.

Lewis Hamilton's name drops down the order, as his twitch on his previous lap means his lap time has been deleted for exceeding track limits.
