    Hampshire 7-0 v Yorkshire 173

Yorkshire conceded only three runs in the first three overs, but then Ben Cliff strays onto the pads of Ali Orr and the Hampshire opener clips away his side's first boundary of the innings.

  2. Pitch inspection at Leicesterpublished at 17:32 BST 20 August

    Leicestershire 84-5 v Glamorgan

They haven't quite given up at Grace Road.

The umpires will inspect again at 17:45 after their previous inspection was interrupted by rain.

  3. Bad light stops play at Northwoodpublished at 17:32 BST 20 August

    Middlesex v Kent 278-6

That short little session comes to an end as Middlesex and Kent head off with very bad light forcing them off.

Those two wickets of Sam Northeast and Chris Benjamin have probably dragged Middlesex close to parity if that is indeed stumps.

  4. Stumps at Edgbastonpublished at 17:29 BST 20 August

    Warwickshire v Sussex 99-3 (30.3 overs)

A rainy day in Birmingham is finally over for the cricketers of Warwickshire and Sussex.

After a late start, a mid-morning rain break, a late restart after lunch and then another afternoon downpour, attempts to resume after tea finally came to a watery end.

After an early wicket for Chris Woakes, the 69-run stand between Tom Haines (49) and Tom Clark (30) was the one highlight, until Bears seamer Michael Booth got on the Tom-Toms and banged both of them out inside his first 13 balls.

The weather forecast for the next three days in Birmingham is thankfully a bit brighter.

  5. Bashir on to bowl for Derbyshirepublished at 17:29 BST 20 August

    Derbyshire v Durham 59-1

England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir is thrown the ball for the first time today, with the hope of making a breakthrough against Durham.

Alex Lees and Will Rhodes are looking comfortable for the most part.

  6. Hampshire begin replypublished at 17:22 BST 20 August

    Hampshire 0-0 v Yorkshire 173

Hampshire have a possible 26 overs to bat this evening as they start their reply to Yorkshire's 173 in bright sunshine in Southampton.

Ali Orr and Nick Gubbins, both left-handers, are their two openers.

Rain stops playpublished at 17:22 BST 20 August

    Surrey v Nottinghamshire 172-9

They're coming off at The Oval again after a session where the defending champions, Nottinghamshire, have fought back.

They added 39 runs at a good pace for the loss of only one wicket and led by Liam Patterson-White (68 not out) their middle and lower order have rescued some respectability to the score after being 41-5 at one stage.

Some of the Surrey players looked bemused about the decision to halt play but the umpires point to some very black clouds overhead.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:22 BST 20 August

    Benjamin b Helm 27 (Middlesex v Kent 278-6)

Kent have simply not got going since they came back out and Middlesex have been on the money.

Tom Helm catches Chris Benjamin a touch on the walk and he clatters into off-stump which is knocked out of position.

There is a spring in the step of the Middlesex fielders now.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:18 BST 20 August

    Nicholls b Cook 96 (Somerset 312-4 v Essex)

The new ball appears to have worked as it removes Henry Nicholls.

That was just 10 balls after it had been taken.

Jamie Porter had no luck. But Sam Cook did . . . A Change Is Going To Come.

Tom Abell remains on 50. James Rew is the new man in.

  10. It's rainingpublished at 17:16 BST 20 August

    Leicestershire 84-5 v Glamorgan

The umpires emerge for a 1700 pitch inspection and before they're finished it starts raining again.

That looks likely to be it for the day though that's not yet official.

  11. 50 runs

50 up for Durhampublished at 17:15 BST 20 August

    Derbyshire v Durham 50-1

Alex Lees and Will Rhodes have guided Durham to 50-1 off 20 overs against Derbyshire.

Still 23 overs remaining today, given the lengthy rain delays earlier.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:12 BST 20 August

    Northeast lbw b Roland-Jones 87 (Middlesex v Kent 274-5)

Sam Northeast cannot add to his score following the resumption as he is struck on the pads by Toby Roland-Jones.

He looks fractionally outside the line to the naked eye, but the person with the power decides he is in line and that's all that matters.

Now Middlesex will feel they have a route back into the game this evening.

  13. wicket

YORKSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 173published at 17:09 BST 20 August

    Cliff c Lehmann b Baker 16 (Hampshire v Yorkshire 173)

Kyle Abbott was undoubtedly the star turn with the ball for Hampshire - he took 4-17 off 18 overs.

    Hampshire v Yorkshire 173-9

Hampshire turn to the off spin of Felix Organ for the first time today.

His fourth ball goes down the legside and away for four byes, which brings up the 50 partnership between last-wicket pair Dom Bess and Ben Cliff.

  15. Postpublished at 17:06 BST 20 August

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:05 BST 20 August

    Hutton c Pope b Lawes 19 (Surrey v Notts 160-9)

After an enterprising partnership of 56 in 12 overs Nottinghamshire lose their ninth wicket.

Brett Hutton skies an attempted pull and Ollie Pope gets underneath the ball for his fourth catch to give Tom Lawes his fourth wicket.

At the other end Liam Patterson-White continues to attack adding two more boundaries since completing his half-century to reach 61.

  17. new ball

Essex take the new ball at Tauntonpublished at 17:04 BST 20 August

    Somerset 311-3 v Essex (80 overs)

Somerset have just gone past their 300.

Tom Abell has gone past 50.

Henry Nicholls is five short of his century.

And Essex have taken just three wickets all day.

All adds up to one thing . . . the new ball being taken!

Jamie Porter is the man with the responsibility.

There is a delay while the ground staff repair a few footholes.

Porter bowled a no-ball with the opening delivery of the day earlier. Let's hope this one goes a bit better . . .
