    Surrey v Notts 113-8

Josh Blake has been drafted in from a Surrey second XI match to replace Ryan Patel for the rest of this game.

Patel suffered a painful looking hand injury while trying to take a low catch at leg-slip.

    Clark lbw b Booth 30 (Sussex 98-3 v Warwickshire)

Michael Booth strikes again in his second over.

It's his second wicket in six balls as he traps Tom Clark for 30.

    Suddenly, Warwickshire have come alive.

  3. Tea at Northwoodpublished at 16:05 BST 20 August

    Middlesex v Kent 271-4

The players are off at Merchant Taylor's School and Sam Northeast has batted through the whole session to reach 87.

He lost Zak Crawley for 81, but we know Northeast can go big and that would set Kent up for a strong first innings total.

  4. Have the Bears not fully exploited the cloud?published at 16:03 BST 20 August

    Warwickshire v Sussex 98-2

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex at Edgbaston

Looks like rain on the horizon at Edgbaston as the loss of Sussex skipper Tom Haines ended a partnership of 69 with Tom Clark which had steadied the Sussex ship after the earlier loss of Daniel Hughes.

In helpful bowling conditions, having won the toss this morning, Warwickshire may feel they haven't fully exploited the cloud cover that has hung around Edgbaston.

    Kelly c Cooke b Van der Gugten 16 (Leic 72/5 v Glamorgan)

Well, we'd just come back on at Leicester and straight away Glamorgan take their fifth wicket.

Nick Kelly edges the fourth ball after the resumption with a forward defensive and is caught behind.

    Stone c Lawes b Worrall 3 (Surrey v Notts 104-8)

Dan Worrall had just asked Tom Lawes to move closer from midwicket and sure enough Olly Stone turns one to that position and Worrall has his second.

It'll be interesting to see how Surrey fare on this green pitch when they come to bat, which looks likely to be soon.

  9. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:55 BST 20 August

    Somerset 248-3 v Essex

A lovely position for Somerset to be in after being put in to bat this morning.

New boy Henry Nicholls is on 60, with former skipper Tom Abell not out on 26.

    Chohan lbw b Neal 5 (Hampshire v Yorkshire 120-9)

Left-arm spinner Andrew Neal has his third wicket of the innings.

Jafer Chohan is struck on the back pad, bang in front of the stumps. As plumb as you'll see.

Hampshire need one more wicket before they can start their reply with the bat.

    Haines c Yates b Booth 49 (Sussex 90-2 v Warwickshire)

  12. Postpublished at 15:54 BST 20 August

    Lancashire v Northants 21-0

Lancashire have four slips in place waiting for any edges but none have been forthcoming.

Ricardo Vasconcelos is his usual busy self as he has made his way to 13 with Luke Procter offering more obduracy at the other end.

  13. 250 runs

250 up for Kentpublished at 15:52 BST 20 August

    Middlesex v Kent 260-4

A beautiful off-drive from Sam Northeast takes him to 83 and ends a profitable over off Eathan Bosch.

It is worth 15 and helps Kent tick past their first batting point.

They have 49 more overs to try to rack up a few more.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:47 BST 20 August

    Coad c Brown b Jack 21 (Hampshire v Yorkshire 111-8)

Ben Coad's entertaining cameo comes to an end on 21 as he edges behind off the bowling of Eddie Jack, who gets his second wicket of the day.

  15. Rain ends play early at Cheltenhampublished at 15:43 BST 20 August

    Glos 107-5 v Worcs

The heavy rain brings a premature end to the day's play at Cheltenham College.

With a parched outfield, and barely any grass, rain could turn it into mud very quickly so it will need to dry out thoroughly.

Definitely Worcestershire's day thanks to Ben Allison's three wickets, but Tommy Boorman has offered some resistance with an unbeaten 51.

  16. 100 runs

100 up for Yorkshirepublished at 15:41 BST 20 August

    Hampshire v Yorkshire 101-7

There was a stage when it didn't look like they would get there, but Ben Coad and Dom Bess have guided Yorkshire past the 100-mark at Utilita Bowl.

Their eighth-wicket stand is currently worth 18 - the second-highest partnership of the innings.

  17. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 15:36 BST 20 August

    Warwickshire v Sussex 79-1

The two Toms, Haines and Clark are doing a steady job for Sussex.

They have put on 58 for this second wicket at Edgbaston.

Haines is two away from a half-century with Clark the more junior partner on 19.

Also blue skies being reported over Birmingham, from beyond the City End. Maybe the rest of the day's play is going to be smiled on from up above.

WICKETpublished at 15:36 BST 20 August

    Verreynne c Thomas b Lawes 22 (Surrey v Notts 98-7)

The seventh-wicket resistance is ended by Tom Lawes who now has three victims.

Kyle Verreynne guides the ball straight to Adam Thomas at point.
