    Martindale c Foakes b Clark 13 (Surrey v Notts 70-6)

A battling debut in difficult conditions from Ben Martindale but he's gone for an unlucky 13.

He edges a Jordan Clark delivery to Ben Foakes behind the stumps and looks up to see the umpire's finger raised.

  2. Hants and Abbott back in the groovepublished at 14:49 BST 20 August

    Hampshire v Yorkshire 76-5

    Dan George
BBC Sport England at Utilita Bowl

What a way for Hampshire and Kyle Abbott to resume play after the rain delay.

It took a little while for the umpire to raise his finger but when he did the crowd in the pavilion let out the biggest cheer we've had today.

George Hill is the new Yorkshire batter in the middle.

  3. It's raining still at Leicesterpublished at 14:49 BST 20 August

    Leics 71-4 v Glamorgan

No sign of any improvement in the weather at Leicester sadly.

They got a full morning session of play there but very little since.

  4. Pitch inspectionpublished at 14:47 BST 20 August

    Derbyshire v Durham 5-0

The result of the pitch inspection at 14:30 is...

    Another pitch inspection at 15:00.

Yes, it's one of those days in Derby.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:46 BST 20 August

    Bairstow lbw b Abbott 3 (Hampshire v Yorkshire 76-5)

    First ball after the resumption!

Another lbw decision goes in favour of Kyle Abbott, the third of the innings, to send Jonny Bairstow back to the pavilion.

Abbott has 4-6 today, having taken 10 wickets in Hampshire's win at Headingley earlier this year. He's loving facing Yorkshire in 2026.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Tommy Boormanpublished at 14:45 BST 20 August

    Glos 103-4 v Worcs

Tommy Boorman is on 47 as Fateh Singh is recalled into the attack and the slow left-armer's first ball is a half-tracker which allows Boorman to crack for four off the back foot.

It brings up a very nice maiden half-century for the 21-year-old off 84 balls.

His boundary also pushes the team's total into three figures in the 43rd over.

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:43 BST 20 August

    Surrey v Notts 61-5

They haven't dropped any sitters but Surrey have missed out on some sharp chances.

Jordan Clark sees Kyle Verreynne's straight drive late and can't get his hands on a caught-and-bowled.

  8. Postpublished at 14:39 BST 20 August

    Surrey v Notts 61-5

The sun is shining now at The Oval where Notts batters are trying to survive.

Dan Worrall has beaten the bat of Ben Martindale a number of times but the debutant is still there.

WICKETpublished at 14:38 BST 20 August

    Muyeye c Robson b Roland-Jones 13 (Middlesex v Kent 185-3)

Tawanda Muyeye edges Toby Roland-Jones to Sam Robson at slip and Middlesex have their third wicket of the innings.

Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond is the next man in.

  10. Resumption imminent at Hampshirepublished at 14:37 BST 20 August

    Hampshire v Yorkshire 76-4

They won't be off for too long at Utilita Bowl - play is scheduled to restart in about 10 minutes after a brief shower of rain.

  11. Postpublished at 14:33 BST 20 August

    Middlesex v Kent 182-2

Tawanda Muyeye, in at four for Kent, almost falls twice in two balls - firstly inside-edging just past his own stumps for four and then narrowly missing the ball having chased a wide one outside off stump.

But he's still there on 12 and partner Sam Northeast is five away from a half-century.

  12. Early tea at Old Traffordpublished at 14:32 BST 20 August

Lancashire v Northants - start delayed

Right, we have news from Old Trafford.

There is going to be an early tea taken at 15:10 BST with play scheduled to start 20 minutes later at 15:30.

Of course, that is dependent on no more rain in the next hour.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 14:25 BST 20 August

    Hampshire v Yorkshire 76-4

    Uh oh.

The TV pictures show a couple of members of Hampshire groundstaff slowly making their way over to where the big hover cover is located...

And they're forced into a sprint as the rain starts to fall all of a sudden.

    Another delay.

  14. Pitch inspection at Derbypublished at 14:19 BST 20 August

    Derbyshire v Durham 5-0

The umpires are going to have a look at 14:30 to see if we can resume.

Remember, this match has only had 16 balls of action so far.

  15. 50 runs

50 up for Nottspublished at 14:17 BST 20 August

    Nottinghamshire 50-5 v Surrey

It's been an understandably careful start from Notts since the resumption.

Just eight runs added by Kyle Verreynne and Ben Martindale against some probing bowling from Matt Fisher and Dan Worrall.

The Notts scoring rate overall is barely at two-an-over but they know they need to build a partnership after a torrid morning,

Zak Crawley is out... and that first Championship century of the season won't be coming today, although he has made his highest first-class score of the summer.

He went after a wide one from Ryan Higgins and edged it to Tom Helm at slip.

    Middlesex break a second-wicket stand of 142.

    Revis lbw b Abbott 33 (Hampshire v Yorkshire 64-4)

The South African has figures of 3-3 off 9.3 overs. Ridiculous.

Captain Jonny Bairstow is in at six for the visitors.

    Somerset 162-2 v Essex (37 overs)

Somerset breeze past the 150 mark - and successive fours from Henry Nicholls (34) takes his partnership with Josh Thomas to 68.

The hosts are well and truly off and running again after lunch as the scoring rate edges back close to four and half an over.

  19. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 14:05 BST 20 August

    Glos 78-4 v Worcs

Tommy Boorman has come out with a bit of extra pep since the lunch break.

He has moved to 37 not out, going well past Ollie Price, and their partnership for the fifth wicket is now up to a round 50.

  20. Crawley going wellpublished at 14:04 BST 20 August

    Middlesex v Kent 160-1

Kent's Zak Crawley is progressing nicely towards what would be his first County Championship century of the season.

We all know how good the England Test opener can be when he's on song and he demonstrates that with a superb cover drive to move into the eighties.
