Another issue for Pakistan is that their opener Imam-ul-Haq didn't field again today, so he won't be batting again.

Muhammad Rizwan has had a tough time behind the stumps with the ball zipping all over the place.

  3. Eng 151-6published at 42 overs

    Another quiet over.

England's lead is 331. It feels like the evening session - if it stays dry - could be a chastening one for Pakistan with England's in-form seamers in these conditions.

Batting has been tough but Lawrence, somehow, is managing his end.

    Lead by 330

Dan Lawrence is still hanging in there. He pinches a single before Gus Atkinson defends the rest of the over.

There's just over 20 minutes to go until tea - at this point, you'd assume England will declare after the break.

Soft dismissal but it is a difficult pitch. You need to spend time on it to have a convincing knock.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40 overs

    Smith c Masood b Abbas 7 (Eng 149-6)

    England lose another.

Jamie Smith had clipped one nicely for four earlier in the over, but has picked out mid-wicket in trying to repeat the shot. It nipped back a long way (obviously) so he couldn't get the same timing.

Gus Atkinson joins Dan Lawrence in the middle.

Can't see Pakistan chasing down 300 so not sure why England aren't swinging the bat with a view to getting an evening bowl at them. The forecast isn't great for tomorrow.

  10. Eng 142-5published at 39 overs

    Lead by 322

Edged and dropped short of slip. Again.

Mohammad Ali turns on his heel and storms back to his mark in disgust.

  11. Eng 139-5published at 38 overs

    How's that missed?!

Dan Lawrence can only laugh as Muhammad Abbas practically bowls him a leg-spinner, pitching on leg and nipping over the top of off.

Rizwan takes another blow to the finger in the process.

That was perfectly controlled, there was nothing sloggy about that. Superb shot, like he's almost placed it there.

  13. 6 runs

    Eng 138-5published at 37 overs

    Lead by 318

    Oh, that's sensational!

With everything that the pitch is doing, and he's just been belted in the ribs, Dan Lawrence lofts a glorious drive over extra cover for six. Wow.

  14. Eng 132-5published at 36.5 overs

    Ha, he's had enough.

Lawrence steps down the pitch and wallops the ball over cover for four.

There's an argument for England have a bowl. They lead by 308, it's moving all over the place.

  16. Eng 128-5published at 36.4 overs

Oh, that is nasty. Everyone's wearing it out there.

Dan Lawrence yelps in pain as he's whacked in the ribs, with Mohammad Ali getting the ball to rear up off a good length.

He's then beaten by a beauty as he fends outside the off stump. Good luck to him!

  17. Eng 128-5published at 36 overs

Jamie Smith batted beautifully in the first innings and he's in the middle with Dan Lawrence now.

He won't be too pleased with what he's seen from Rizwan, however!

    Oh, that's a cracker.

Considering how many times Muhammad Rizwan has been hit while standing up to the stumps here, that's a great bit of work.

Another one nips off the seam and takes the edge of Harry Brook's bat, and Rizwan takes the ball around chest height.

  19. Eng 128-4published at 35.2 overs

Stunning response from Harry Brook. A picture perfect straight drive for another boundary.

It's murky. I'm looking around and I can't see any umbrellas up yet. This is every bit as dark as when they went off yesterday.
