Summary

Have your say on England men this summer

    My word.

Muhammad Abbas gets one to leap up off a length and Harry Brook is squared up, the ball flying past his outside edge.

Poor Rizwan, who is standing up to the stumps, has no chance. He's taken another one to the thumb.

The lateral movement off the pitch in this Test has been unprecedented with ball consistently dominating over the batters. The average seam movement off the seamers in the first three innings of this Test so far has been 0.847°, with England yet to bowl in the last innings.

No surprises that of the 114 Tests hosted in England since the start of 2010, no other Test has had the ball move off the pitch more than his game.

The previous highest was 0.845° in the ENG v WI Test here at Lord's in 2017.

Well, it is jagging more than Jagger on this pitch!

    Don't bowl there.

Harry Brook whips a leg-stump freebie off his pads to the boundary - that'll be four on any pitch.

Pakistan enquire with the umpires about the state of the ball, but it goes through the measuring thing easily and they're told to get on with it.

It's doing plenty, guys. I think it's fine.

Dan Lawrence is doing his reputation no harm here. He's only on 19, but it hasn't been easy. He's looked assured.

    The runs are flowing now.

Dan Lawrence pulls a horrible short ball for four, before driving beautifully down the ground for the same result.

Emilio Gay must be thinking after 100 overs of England batting, he got the one ball that kept low.

  8. Eng 107-4published at 32 overs

    Lead by 287

The keeper finally comes up for Harry Brook and it nearly brings the reward, as a streaky drive just evades the stumps off the inside edge.

If you're Babar Azam you've got to realise what these two are doing. They're not even considering the off side, they're working across their stumps into the on side.

England are getting exactly what they want at the moment, keeper back and gaps on the on side.

  10. Eng 106-4published at 31 overs

    Lead by 286

Pakistan are clearly trying to target Dan Lawrence on the pads, but that does come with risk, too. Khurram Shahzad bowls a little too straight, and Lawrence effortlessly whips it away for four.

  11. Eng 99-4published at 30 overs

    Lead by 279

Dan Lawrence defends the three remaining balls of Abbas' over.

The way the pitch is playing, and knowing how aggressive Brook and Lawrence like to be, you'd assume that they'll try to kick on quickly now. Get the lead over 300 and get bowling as soon as you can.

Let's not even bother thinking about what the forecast might be for later. We'll just see what happens, shall we?

    Good news.

We'll be restarting in five minutes' time!

    This is so silly.

It's so windy that everything's blown over quite quickly so the umpires are already back out there having a chat, and the sheet covers are gone.

    Yeah, it's properly bucketing down.

And based on what we saw in that 38 minutes of play, it certainly feels like England's lead of 279 is enough. It was close to unplayable.
