1. 'Something to really build on'published at 18:29 GMT

    FT: Fulham 1-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "A step in the right direction after the last performance. That's something we can really build on.

"I think there were occasions also to win that game. Of course, the disallowed goal, a soft one, I would say. I see it different then also a big chance at the end.

"Then you should go home with three points but one point and a performance is something we can work on."

On Jacob Murphy's goal: "A brilliant goal and, in general, a great performance. Really solid defensively, he did his job, and offensive-wise, with such a goal, a great evening for him."

On his yellow card: "Not understandable really. I was shouting at my player that he should get up because if we can lose him for one minute at a decisive moment of the game, yeah, he should get up.

"Only when he is really injured can I understand it. The referee then gives me the yellow card. That's strange."

On Dan Burn's disallowed goal: "Do you think it's a foul? In the Premier League? No."

On international break: "It's now time to reflect and recharge also with a long season ahead of us, then pull out the things we need to improve and there are a couple of aspects.

"But today showed a clear direction in the right way so we can build on that."

Who saw that one coming then?

A really poor half from Manchester City and the errors just seem to be mounting up.

Losing the ball cheaply in the middle of the pitch, costly individual errors and looking seriously vulnerable at times.

If things stay the same it would be a third defeat in a row in the league for City, unfamiliar territory for them.

That's the first bit of real pressure and patience we've seen from City so far, Forest are getting deeper and deeper which is expected.

This is probably what we'll see throughout the second half.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:20 GMT

    Nottm Forest 2-0 Man City

Nottingham Forest with a two-goal advantage at the break. What a 45 minutes for the hosts.

For Manchester City, a big team talk and a big second half is needed.

The corner is delivered deep to the back post and Erling Haaland tries to hook it back into the mix but instead it goes out for a goal kick.

Man City just don't have the mentality to compete for the title. Too many players like Anderson, Cherki, Khusanov, Ndiaye, Guehi just happy to make up the numbers. No leaders to step up like Kompany, Aguero, De Bruyne, Rodri etc of the successful City teams in recent history.

More direct from Manchester City as Josko Gvardiol nudges across for Erling Haaland and he takes the ball around Matz Sels but the shot from a tight angle is cleared off the line.

City win a corner and it comes to Elliot Anderson but his effort from range is saved.

Iliman Ndiaye goes down under a challenge from Murillo, it looks like a flailing arm but the referee sees nothing in that.

Murillo puts the ball out of play in a gesture of sportsmanship with Ndiaye clutching his face but the referee is still having none of it. Neither is VAR.

We know Man City aren't a soft team. But they're getting bullied in the middle of the park at the minute.

Forest are first to everything, they're being really aggressive.

Bit of a goalmouth scramble as the corner comes in and Matz Sels flaps at the ball. He is fortunate it falls behind and not at the feet of a City player as it would have been an easy tap in.

    Manchester City win a corner.

Just less than 10 minutes to go until the break and things would look a lot better for the visitors if they could pull a goal back before then.

Simple fact of the matter is Maresca isn't good enough, and the players don't care any more.

    Chris, Droylsden

We have no midfield because Maresca tied his flag to Fernandez. This starting midfield doesn't work.

  14. 'Collective performance after a tough week'published at 18:05 GMT

    FT: Fulham 1-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy, speaking to Premier League Studios: "We're unhappy not to come away with three points. But we're delighted with the overall performance.

"We've had a tough week and we bounced back. That was a collective performance, everyone stood up and were counted for.

"We've always been a committed group and I think we showed that today. We didn't let Fulham play the style they wanted, we made it uncomfortable for them and, on another day, we're 2-0 up in the first half.

"Disappointed we conceded after the goal but it's a point in the right direction."

  15. 'Midfielders aren't getting back'published at 18:04 GMT

It's been a terrific start, the start Oliver Glasner will have wanted - he'll be disappointed if he doesn't go on to win it.

The City goalkeeper and defenders are all just pointing at each other.

Two midfield players aren't getting back in, Enzo Fernandez and Rayan Cherki aren't getting back. It's becoming increasingly difficult.

Manchester City seem to have taken the sting out of the game for now but they are still incredibly vulnerable to the counter attack.

That last Forest attack summed up Gianluigi Donnarumma's recent form and confidence.

A cross came in which was too long, the City goalkeeper could have caught it and set his side off on a quick counter, but instead withdraws his hands and lets the ball sail out of play.

The Italy international is not having a good season.

It's about how Man City react from that and who gets the next goal.

It makes Forest's life easier but it also makes them nervous when it's only 25 minutes played.

  19. 'This goal shows everyone Rodrigo is here'published at 17:59 GMT

    FT: Fulham 1-1 Newcastle

    Fulham

Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, speaking to Premier League Studios: "Last game was really difficult against Aston Villa then this week we trained hard, we knew this would be a tough game.

"Newcastle have some really good players so happy to score to help my team-mates.

"I train hard every week to get a chance to play and to score. I need to be ready. In the first half, I said to Kevin 'I need to be ready, I need to warm-up good and when I come on I need to do everything'.

"Last season was really difficult for me. This goal was really important for me. Last season, I scored only one goal, not good. I want to play more and this goal shows everyone Rodrigo is here."
