Here we go again. Really poor from England - both openers have thrown their wickets away when well set on a flat pitch. Opened the door to Pakistan when it was closed.

ODI cricket is the only format Brook is yet to dominate in Pakistan.

Harry Brook's record in Pakistan across formats:

    • ODI - Avg 13.00 | SR 82.5

    Target 303

Curran gets off the mark with a single.

Those two quick wickets have given Pakistan a boost, but from an England point of view, everything always feels calm and safe when Joe Root's in the middle.

Straight into the action! Harry Brook is bowled by a beauty.

Arafat Minhas gets one to pitch on middle stump and clip the top of off as Brook goes back in his crease and is beaten.

    That could make things interesting.

When you speak to players who have played with Harry Brook they say he's a generaronal talent and he's going to be one of the best England have ever had. But people remember results in big tournaments and he might start thinking about that.

  9. Eng 126-2published at 20 overs

England captain Harry Brook is the new batter and joins Joe Root at the crease. A quiet period of rotating the strike should be the order of the day here.

The pair do just that with milking six runs off Saim Ayub's over.

Pakistan's seamers need to keep hammering away at a hard length between 8-10m, where batters have been striking at just 50 runs per 100 balls in the game, if they are to seize control of England's innings.

Hmmm, two new batters at the crease for England now.

Pakistan have prised open the door.

The disappointment there is the opportunity Tom Banton had to make himself undroppable with Jacob Bethell coming back.

I think he's bent over there thinking a century keeps him in the team.

    Banton c Afridi b Arafat 57 (Eng 120-2)

Tom Banton gives it away and is fuming with himself. Pakistan's fans are on their feet!

Banton gets a bit of an nonthreatening short one from Arafat Minhas, transfers his weight on to the back foot, and ends up with a rather ugly drag across the line into the hands of Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi at mid-wicket.

  14. Eng 117-1published at 18 overs

Excellent rotating of the strike by Tom Banton and Joe Root to Saim Ayub.

Root picks up a boundary by getting lower and opening the face to the off spinner to thread it behind point for four.

    England cruising at the moment.

Fantastic innings so far from Tom Banton. The key thing for him and his career moving forward is whether he can capitalise on this.

He has to just keep ticking along as he has been. He's made a good start here and he fully deserves his fifty.

England's dressing room give a hearty applause after Tom Banton brings up his fifty, off 46 balls, with a controlled dab off spinner Saim Ayub through point for a couple.

Good knock from Ben Duckett, especially considering his recent form.

Joe Root is the new batter and he gets off the mark with a controlled pull for a single before Tom Banton stylishly drives the final ball of Haris Rauf's over down the ground for four.

Balance and poise from the England opener.
