Madison Keys, speaking on-court after her round one victory: “It’s always tough playing someone young and up and coming and they’re going after their shots. It’s so hard playing a first round of a Grand Slam, so nervous and wanting to do so well, so I’m really happy to fight through that and get the win today."

On how she stayed calm while seeing that match out: “I don’t think I was controlling my nerves but it’s tough. It’s always a tough first match and I think at the end, I’m just kind of relying on making a lot of balls and backing myself really helped me get that win.”

On whether playing teenager Alina Korneeva brought up memories of the start of her career: “Yes and no. It’s always funny to see – I think I’m still a teenager so looking across the net and seeing a teenager doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me but, it’s always such an honour to be on Arthur Ashe and out here again all these years later is incredible.”
