Part of the A1(M) has been closed after a multi-vehicle crash.

The northbound carriageway has been shut at junction eight for Stevenage, Hertfordshire, National Highways said.

All emergency services are on scene and traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads, the roads agency added.

Drivers are facing delays of up to 30 minutes and three miles (4.8km) of congestion.

Hertfordshire Police said the crash was affecting traffic between junctions seven and eight on the northbound and southbound carriageways.

The force has advised motorists to find alternative routes.
