Harry Styles performs new track in memory of Liam Payne
Getty ImagesHarry Styles has performed an unreleased song he wrote for his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne on the second anniversary of his death.
The Grammy Award-winning star played the track, called What Is Enough, during his gig at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.
Styles is currently performing at the New York venue as part of a residency on his Together, Together tour.
Addressing the crowd, the singer paid tribute to Payne as a friend and someone he "wouldn't have been able to do this without".
Payne was 31 when he died on 16 October 2024 after falling from the third floor of a hotel room in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
With a spotlight over him, Styles paid tribute an emotional tribute to his former bandmate at the concert.
"There are so many people in my life, friends and people that I've worked with that I wouldn't have been able to do this without," he said.
"And two years ago today, I lost one of those friends."
His speech was met with cheers from the audience, as Styles went on to urge fans to keep an eye out for and support each other.
"I'm sure a lot of you have been through similar things. I hope you haven't," he said.
"But really, it's just about looking after each other."

"I'm gonna play you a song I wrote for my friend about two years ago, if that's all right," he added.
The singer then played the emotional ballad What Is Enough on his guitar, which fans took to Instagram to describe as "beautiful".
Styles launched his solo career in 2017 after becoming a global star in One Direction, who were formed on talent show The X Factor in 2010.
His first album and single were both UK number ones, while his record Harry's House won a Grammy and a Brit Award after its release in 2022.
Styles and his other former One Direction bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik were among the mourners at Payne's funeral in November 2024.
