Grant fund aims to tackle loneliness and isolation
Local Democracy Reporting ServiceA council is offering grants of up to £35,000 to support community projects aimed at reducing loneliness and improving wellbeing.
Waverley Borough Council said funding of between £3,000 and £35,000 would be available for projects supporting vulnerable residents across the borough.
A council spokesperson said the funding will be available between April 2027 and March 2028.
Kika Mirylees, portfolio holder for community services, said: "Our voluntary and community sector plays a vital role in supporting residents and helping people access the services, advice and connections they need to thrive."
She added: "Local organisations provide invaluable support every day, often reaching people who may otherwise struggle to get the help they need.
"They help reduce isolation, improve wellbeing and strengthen communities across the borough."
To be eligible for the funding, not-for-profit organisations must provide a service in the borough which fits the initiative's goals.
The council said grants would be awarded for specific projects rather than for organisations' general running costs.
Applications must be submitted by 21 December.
The bids will be assessed in January before funding is allocated in February 2027.
