Police say a silver car hit the pedestrian on Park Street on Saturday

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian died following a suspected hit-and-run crash in Hull.

Humberside Police said it was reported a silver car was exiting Colonial Street and turned left on to Park Street before colliding with a 67-year-old man at about 17:30 GMT on Saturday.

Officers said the pedestrian, a 67-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment but died on Sunday morning.

Police said the driver, a 21-year-old man, reportedly failed to stop at the scene. He was located and arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

The force said the man was also arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs, driving above the specified limit of a controlled drug, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without third party insurance.

Police appealed for witnesses or dashcam footage that may help their investigation.
