Claudia Winkleman and Alison Hammond are among the celebrities who have been given the cake treatment - lining up alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales at one of the baking industry's biggest events.

A host of spectacular creations are on display at Cake International at Birmingham's NEC, which got under way earlier.

From lifelike every day items such as handbags and sandwiches to elaborate edible sculptures, bakers and cake artists have pulled out all the stops for this year's event.

Established in 1994, Cake International attracts cake artists, bakers and chocolatiers from around the globe and is expected to welcome about 25,000 visitors over three days.
