Repairs to a gas main have been completed following a leak, engineers have said.

Jersey gas company Island Energy said it was alerted to the leak on Wednesday evening after a member of the public smelt gas on St Saviour's Hill.

It said a leak was found in the mains network near the junction of Deloraine Road and Chasse Brunet. The gas company said repairs had finished and testing was under way before the road would be filled and re-surfaced.

"We are expecting St Saviour's Hill to be fully open this evening," it said. "While diversions remain in place while this essential work is carried out, we would like to thank residents, motorists and pedestrians for their patience and understanding."
