Gabrielle Creevy plays assassin Eleanor in season two of Netflix spy thriller Black Doves

Award-winning actress Gabrielle Creevy has told how she loved being able to play "a very Welsh assassin" in the upcoming new season of spy thriller Black Doves.

Creevy plays the role of Eleanor in the Netflix drama, starring alongside actors including Keira Knightley, Sarah Lancashire and Ben Whishaw.

The Port Talbot-born actress told Lucy Owen on BBC Radio Wales she had auditioned with a Welsh accent "and they kind of loved it", with the show writing in extra details to add to her character.

"I'm kind of thrilled that they went with it because as a kid growing up and watching things, there was never that, there was never the Welsh accent," she said.

Creevy said that after she auditioned, Black Doves writer Joe Barton wrote the dialogue to suit her, and "we added all of the stuff about Bridgend".

It was "very refreshing to be that Welsh", she said.

"I just love Wales and I just love taking that with me - it's so nice."

She said it was also good that her fellow cast member Ella Lily Hyland was able to use her Irish accent in the drama.

Creevy said she was starstruck working alongside such seasoned performers and watching them do their thing was "like a masterclass".

A photo montage for the series shows Eve Myles as Fran looking at the camera. She is wearing a cream-coloured dress with a white blouse with what appear to be blood stains on the sleeve. She has long blonde hair. A three-storey Georgian home is pictured in the background at either sunset or sunrise. An old car with its lights on looks like it is fleeing the property. Creevy won Best Actress at this year's Bafta Cymru Awards for her role in BBC drama The Guest and previously won the same award in 2020 for her breakout role in BBC coming-of-age drama In My Skin.

She said she loved working with Eve Myles in The Guest, saying "she taught me a lot".

Creevy also stars in the upcoming four-part BBC One supernatural drama series The Witch Farm created by Danny Robins, the host of paranormal podcast Uncanny.

The drama is based on a real-life story of a couple who claimed they experienced a seven-year long haunting at their remote farmhouse at the foot of a mountain in Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons.

She will be playing Liz Rich, who moved into the farmhouse with her husband Bill in 1989, claiming they saw ghosts and experienced poltergeist activity.

Asked if she was Team Sceptic or Team Believer in the paranormal, as featured in the Uncanny podcast, Creevy said she was "kind of on the fence" but had an open mind.
