Costumes from television show The Masked Singer have gone on display in a new exhibition in Sussex.

Making the Masked Singer, at Brighton Museum, features 24 costumes and seven character heads from seven series of the programme.

Some of the outfits on display are Hedgehog, Fox, Tree, Badger, Mushroom, Pigeon, Phoenix, Pufferfish and Dressed Crab, all worn by celebrity contestants on the ITV show.

Tim Simpson, creative director of Portslade-based Plunge Creations, said he was "thrilled" that fans would get the opportunity to see the costumes up close.

"It would be a wonderful opportunity for people who love arts and crafts. I've never seen this many costumes together in one place," he told BBC Radio Sussex.

Speaking about his team's work in making the costumes, he said: "We have become more skilled in bringing these characters to life.

"We're a small local team in Portslade, but so much talent and dedication goes into it."

Organisers said the exhibition would explore how the elaborate costumes were designed.

This includes a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship and techniques used to bring the programme's colourful characters to life.

Characters from more recent series, including Moth, Conkers and Giant Joel, will also be featured, alongside a display of individual character heads from previous shows.

Hedley Swain, chief executive of Brighton & Hove Museums, said: "The Masked Singer is great fun, but these costumes are artworks that showcase incredible creativity and skill.

"It's exciting to bring them together for the first time, giving visitors a chance to see how they're made while celebrating a talented Sussex creative business."

The exhibition runs until 7 June 2027.
