Motorway drivers face severe delays after crash
Highways EnglandPart of the M6 in Cheshire has been closed in both directions following a crash, with severe delays reported.
Traffic England said there had been a collision on the northbound section of the motorway where it meets the M56 at the Lymm Interchange, near Warrington.
It said traffic had been diverted off the M6 via the exit and entry slip roads at junction 20 and there were half-hour delays, with about four miles (6.4km) of congestion on the approach.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix said southbound traffic had built up to before junction 22 for Newton Le Willows, while those heading northbound could expect congestion from junction 19 for Knutsford.
It also said traffic was "very slow" on the M62 heading towards Manchester due to motorists trying to find alternative routes.
