A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty to possessing terrorist documents, including an IRA manual.

Jac Glyn Pari Edwards, from Barmouth, Gwynedd, was found with four documents that would likely be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

The documents included an IRA manual, The Anarchist Cookbook - which contains instructions on how to manufacture explosives - a manual on ethnic cleansing operations, as well as one on guerrilla warfare.

Edwards appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to the four charges against him.

The court heard Edwards had previously been charged with possession of a firearm, but the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it was dropped before the case reached the Crown Court.

Edwards' defence barrister recommended requesting a report on his mental health, suggesting that he may have a "mental illness that could have affected his culpability".

Judge Dennis Watson KC directed the report to be prepared.

Edwards was released on conditional bail and will be sentenced on 22 January.
