Several people have been injured after a double decker bus crashed into a building in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Police said it happened near the junction of Union Road, Market Street and St Mary's Road, in New Mills, at about 17:20 GMT on Saturday.

A cordon was placed around the scene due to concerns over a "potential gas leak", while a number of people were being treated for injuries. The injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Road closures in Union Road, Market Street and St Mary's Road are expected to remain in place for some time, and pedestrians and motorists have been advised to avoid the area until further notice, the force added.

Ambulance and fire crews also attended the scene.
