Corbiere loop road to shut for summer roadworks
Ports of JerseyThe Corbiere Loop Road is to be closed next summer for resurfacing, Jersey's government has confirmed.
The work, approved by the assistant minister for infrastructure, is due to begin in June 2027 as part of routine planned highway maintenance.
Work was rarely given the go-ahead on the "seasonally protected route" as it helped bring tourists to attractions such as Corbiere Lighthouse, the Corbiere Phare restaurant and the Radio Tower self-catering unit, as well as providing access to La Moye Prison, officials said.
However, the government said access to the sites "would always be maintained" while the work was ongoing.
Roads to be affected are due to include:
- La Rue De La Corbiere
- Mont Du Grouet
- La Rue Du Grouet
- Le Mont Du Petit Port
- La Route Du Petit Port
The decision stated the reason the road had to be closed during the summer was due to the type of surfacing treatment requiring warm and dry weather to be laid.
It added that there would be no additional money spent on the work.
