Investigation into death of inmate at prison begins

Tyrone Dorsett, who was serving a sentence at HMP Lowdham Grange, died on 4 October, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman said.
The 44-year-old is the 20th prisoner at the Category B jail to die since 2023, but it is the first fatality at the prison this calendar year.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), which runs the jail, confirmed the death but added it would not comment further while an investigation was taking place.
Previously run by private operators Serco and Sodexo, Lowdham Grange was taken over by the MoJ in 2024 following a string of critical reports.
A number of inquests have highlighted concerns about a range of issues, including staffing, violence and the prevalence of drugs in the jail, though an inspection earlier this year did note "considerable improvements".
