The arrests were made as police carried out patrols in Birmingham city centre

Two men have been arrested after fireworks were set off on a roof in Birmingham.

Officers were called to Dale End while they were patrolling the city centre throughout Friday night and Saturday morning, West Midlands Police said.

The force used drones to search the area before the men, aged 26 and 28, were detained on suspicion of illegally throwing fireworks in a public place.

Both of them remained in custody for questioning, the police spokesperson added.

The arrests came during a large policing operation, which included a presence around the Christmas markets, along with patrols on Bagot Street and Staniforth Street.

It followed previous incidents involving fireworks being set off in the city centre over the last week.
