An investigation has been launched after two men were attacked in Nottingham city centre.

Nottinghamshire Police said the men, 37 and 33, were believed to have been assaulted by a group of five men, near the Food Factory takeaway in Lower Parliament Street, shortly before 05:00 GMT on Sunday.

The injured men were taken to hospital by paramedics for injuries the police said were "not believed to be life-altering".

No arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing, the force added.

An area of Parliament Street was cordoned off on Sunday morning while forensic officers examined the scene.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation has been urged to contact police.
