Police will have additional powers to order people to leave Beeston town centre

Police have issued a dispersal order in parts of Beeston for Halloween in a bid to prevent anti-social behaviour.

Nottinghamshire Police said a dispersal order was in place across the town centre, Broadgate Park and Dovecote Lane Recreation Ground from 15:00 on Saturday to 03:00 GMT on Sunday.

The order will give officers temporary powers to remove people without arresting them.

Police added additional officers would be on patrol "to remove any troublemakers from the town centre and recreation ground".

Insp Usha Madara, district commander for Broxtowe, said: "Halloween should be a time of fun and enjoyment for young children and their families, not an excuse for local youths to behave in ways that cause alarm and distress to others.

"So, for that small minority of young people looking to use this event as an excuse for poor behaviour, I want to be very clear that we will not tolerate it.

"In addition to this, anyone playing tricks we really don't like, can expect the treat of a ride home in a police car and an uncomfortable conversation between my officers and their parents."
